About Us

History & Awards
– the Seattle ZTA Alumnae Chapter was founded February 7, 1927. Over the years, we have grown to a membership of over 100 outstanding women from all over Western Washington (and a few in other states as well). Here in the Pacific Northwest, ZTA is thriving and we’ve got silver to prove it! Each Convention we are proud to bring home awards, including Crown Chapter, the Alumnae Attendance Award, Alumnae Service Award, Public Relations Award and runner-up to the Betty McGehee Schuessler Award . . .to name a few. While graduates of Psi chapter make up a strong component of our chapter, we welcome alumnae from chapters all over the country each year. In fact, most of our Board members are not Psi graduates.

Social & Sisterhood - With such a large membership, we strive to have events that appeal to a variety of ages, from “Girls Nights Out” at the mall or a restaurant to knitting; from snowshoeing to a visit to a museum or zoo. All of our events must accomplish one thing- ZTA fun! We frequently have several social events per month so that our members can choose to attend which events are best targeted towards their age and interests. Some of our events are even open to family and friends – just check the newsletter or Evite description.

Community Service – While we like to have fun, we also like to give back and "Think Pink"! We have several projects that we do every year, like staffing the Survivor’s Area at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure each summer and collecting pink Yoplait yogurt lids each fall. By handing our pink hats and shirts to breast cancer survivors and raising money for breast cancer research an awareness through our lid collection, we are working “to prepare for service and learn the nobility of serving”, as our Creed so poetically inspires us to do. Other service projects we have participated in have benefitted organizations such as the Forgotten Children’s Fund of King County, PAWS, the YWCA, Northwest Harvest, Nellie Goodhue Group Homes, as well as veterans and troops overseas.

Philanthropy & Fundraising – Raising funds for the ZTA Foundation is a constant focus, especially at our Washington Zeta Day each Spring. ZTAF is a tax-exempt 501(c)3 organization with a mission of providing scholarships, developing leaders among college women, and increasing breast cancer awareness. At Zeta Day, we have amazing items up for auction and raffle, with all proceeds going to ZTAF. In addition to Zeta Day, we hold other fundraising events throughout the year (like our “Stay at Home Tea”) with proceeds going towards scholarships for women in our area through the ZTAF.

Collegiate Relations
- In addition to providing advisors to Psi chapter, we like to spoil them rotten! Some past activities include a Cookie “Drive-By’ during finals, ice cream socials and a Mexican Fiesta. In addition, we administer the Ruth Riddleford Kerr scholarship annually to qualified Psi Zetas, help out during Formal Recruitment, Founder’s Day and Initiation, and honor the Seniors as the graduate with a special dinner.

Thanks for visiting the Seattle ZTA Alumnae Chapter! We hope to see you at an event soon!
